Bell Ringing at St Andrew’s Church
There is a very long tradition of bell ringing at St Andrew’s, stretching back many generations. The bells are always rung on Sunday mornings (after the 9.15am service) and also for practice on Monday evenings (7.30pm to 9pm). They are also rung for weddings throughout the year.

🕰️ A New Project for the Friends of St Andrew’s Church 🕰️

Following our recent post for the launch of the Friends of St Andrew’s Church, Preston and Sutton Poyntz, we are excited to announce the very first fundraising project we hope to undertake together:

✨ The Restoration of the Historic Clock Dia

l on St Andrew’s Church Bell Tower ✨

The beautiful 16th Century bell tower is a much-loved landmark, familiar to generations of local residents and visitors alike.

Standing proudly, the clock, which was added in 1924, has long been part of the character and heritage of St Andrew’s Church.

The restoration project of the clock dial, estimated to cost in the region of £10,000, will help preserve this important feature for future generations.

The clock dial itself is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship:

🕰️ A 5ft cast iron skeleton design

🕰️ Copper backing segments

🕰️ Traditional Roman numerals

🕰️ Finished in gloss black

🕰️ Gold leaf detailing applied to the hands and numerals

Over time, weather and age have taken their toll, and careful restoration work is now needed to bring the clock back to its former glory.

This is exactly the kind of project the Friends of St Andrew’s Church is being created to support — protecting the history, beauty, and heritage of this special place while bringing the community together.

We hope many of you will join us on this journey through fundraising events, donations, and community support in the months ahead.

If you would like to make a donation, there are various ways (see the fundraising thermometer poster), or use this link:

Every donation will help,  no matter how small ❤️
